Experience matters. As the incumbent Assessor, I bring technical expertise to the table. When it comes to the Assessor’s Office, this is not a “learn as you go” position. It is a job that requires hands-on experience, training, and knowledge. Because property assessments affect every homeowner, farmer and business in our community, our citizens deserve clear communication, fair valuations and transparency.
Please help me continue to serve the people of Alamosa County by voting for Jason Duncan in the June 30 primary.
There is far more to this position than people realize.
-
Interpreting and applying complex Colorado property laws correctly
-
Completing required state reporting
-
Passing annual audits and maintaining compliance with state regulations
-
Valuing every type of property fairly and uniformly, and standing behind those values with confidence and knowledge
-
Certifying values to taxing entities (schools, county, fire protection districts, etc.) so they can set their mill levies
Mistakes and omissions affect every taxpayer and citizen of Alamosa County. Property values, in part, determine how much revenue our local government entities receive.
Fairness and accuracy are not optional, they are the foundation that the Assessor’s Office is built on in order to build and maintain public trust.
I have put in the time and training, and understand the responsibility of the Assessor’s Office. It is not a responsibility I take lightly. In my over 7 years working in the office, I have gained experience and knowledge that can’t be learned from a book or webinar.
Experience. Integrity. Dedication.
Meet Jason:
I’ve spent my entire career in the real estate industry working in Alamosa and across the San Luis Valley. Prior to my seven years in the Assessor's office, I worked in title insurance with my dad, driving to Clerk’s and Assessor’s offices all over the Valley to do research. During this time, I served on the Board of the Land Title Association of Colorado for seven years, becoming president of the Association in 2018. In 2015, I was appointed by then-Governor Hickenlooper to the inaugural Title Insurance Commission, helping to inform Colorado’s Insurance Commissioner on matters of title insurance and real estate.
Away from work I’ve been married to my wife, Stephanie, for 28 years. We have raised two awesome young men, Cade and Mason.
I’m active in the community. I have co-coached the Alamosa High School knowledge bowl team for the last 13 years, helping to bring a state championship to AHS in 2026 for the first time in over a decade. I also sit on the board of the Alamosa Alumni Association, helping put on events like St. Nick at the Bricks and providing scholarships to Alamosa High School
graduates.
Ensuring Fair Valuations
I prioritize technical accuracy and transparency in each assessment. By leveraging my background in real estate, I ensure that every property owner receives a valuation that reflects a fair value of their assets.
Establishing Transparency
Property valuations can be complex and overwhelming. I promise to be open and honest, ensuring that Alamosa County taxpayers understand their rights and the rationale behind our valuations.
